This is a video cut from "Trick of The Mind" series aired in the UK. The clip here is taken directly from Season 1 -- Episode 1.This is one of my favorite segments done by Derren. It explains for the most part how he did achieve the feat, and the trick is quite clever. Don't get too hung up on the ending though; it's merely a trick. I've got all of Derren's work on my computer, and if you're interested in somehow obtaining the information, email me at tranceriver@gmail.com and we'll talk.Cheers

That's exactly the point he's trying to make! I don't get the people who think that he's doing these things to show that he has some kind of powers etc. He's doing these tricks to show people how other people who claim to have some kind of powers, do the things they do...

@karlirani It could be, that he wasn´t looking for pictures of them! It this case, how should he know, which man has which name?
karlirani (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
At 1:57 he says he's spent a year trying to familiarize himself with their games and then at 2:01 he asks what Grahams name is. Surely if he spent a year studying them he should know their names by now. As always... the mark/participants never caught on.

Beautiful!

It's a shame he did the added trick with the numbers at the end. While I'm sure it's very impressive, I'm much more inclined to be wowed by feats that are beyond my skill - not merely beyond my comprehension. The actual nine games of chess were phenomenal and I am truly impressed by his ability to play those.

Give up?The envelope containted a phony banner. After the games were over, someone off stage made a new banner with the correct numbers on it.Derren went off camera supposedly to get rid of the envelope, but he was really getting the good banner. While helping to unfold the banner, he did a slight-of-hand switcheroo and hid the banner that had been in the envelope.Remember, he's an illusionist, not just a mentalist! :-)

i'm sorry, but how the hell did he predict the remaining pieces of the players??
